Tourist Programme

Rich tourist programme will be organized by CBT Travel Agency during the whole Conference. Tours start and end at the Charles University Faculty of Law. All tours will operate by minimum 15 participants.

OLD TOWN SQUARE + CHARLES BRIDGE, August 27, 10.30 - 13.00
This is a walking tour of Old Town Square with the astronomical clock. The tour continues through Karlova Street to Charles Bridge, one of the oldest stone bridges in Europe, which is decorated with an open air gallery of 31 Baroque statues.

PRAGUE JEWISH TOWN, August 28, 13.30 - 17.30 and August 30, 8.00 - 13.00
This is a walking tour through the Old Town and along Parizska Street with its Art-Nouveau houses from the beginning of the 20th century. Visit the fascinating Jewish Ghetto with the unique 15th century Old Jewish Cemetery (with 1,200 tombstones and over 20,000 gravestones) and Pinkas synagogue which belongs to the oldest in Prague and which houses a memorial to the Jewish victims of fascism in the Czech Republic. One of the best known graves preserved in the cemetery is the tomb of Jehuda Low ben Bezalel, creator of the legendary Golem. On the way you can also see the ancient Old-New Synagogue, one of the oldest Jewish temples in Europe which is still in use for religious services.

CITY TOUR OF PRAGUE, August 28, 8.30 - 12.30
This is an introduction to your stay in Prague. In 4 hours you see the most famous sights of Prague, commemorating its more than thousand year´s long history. The tour includes Prague Castle with St. Vitus Cathedral, the Royal Palace and the Saint George Basilica, the Lesser Town and Old Town Square with its famous astronomical clock.
Free of charge for registered accompanying persons.

TRIP TO KARLSTEJN CASTLE, August 29, 14.00 - 19.00
A trip to the imposing Gothic castle built 650 years ago on a picturesque site in the heart of deep forests. The castle was founded by Emperor Charles IV to become the treasury of the coronation jewels and holy relics. Dinner will be served in a nearby restaurant. There will be an opportunity for shopping (Czech crystal glass).

TRIP TO MELNIK CHATEAU with wine tasting, August 29, 14.00 - 20.00
This excursion will take you to the wine country north of Prague. You will visit Melnik Chateau (which belongs to the Lobkowicz family) and the wine cellars from the 13th century where you will have an opportunity to enjoy a tasting of local wines. Dinner will be served at the Chateau Restaurant.

TASICE GLASS MANUFACTORY + KUTNA HORA, August 29, 14.00 - 22.00
Visit to one of the oldest glass factories still in work in Central Europe. Its present appearance has been preserved since 1822. You will have the opportunity to watch the workers as they create beautiful coloured-glass objects, and also to try to make your own souvenir yourself. There will be an opportunity for shopping. The tour also includes a visit to the ancient mining town of Kutna Hora, established in a silver mining area in the 13th century. The town has many well preserved medieval and Baroque buildings. One of the most remarkable monuments, and one of the best examples of Bohemian High Gothic, is the Cathedral of St. Barbara. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant.

VISIT TO THE FAMOUS PILSNER URQUELL BREWERY, August 29, 14.00 - 22.00
Departure to West Bohemian town of Plzen, known for its world famous Pilsner Urquell Brewery. You will visit the brewery museum which tries to document the way from products made by burgers authorized for brewing to the drink of today's standard quality. The tour also includes a visit to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery itself, where you will have the opportunity to see the way beer is made. A traditional Czech dinner will be served together with Pilsner beer at the Na Spilce brewery restaurant.

TRIP TO KOST + SYCHROV, August 29, 14.00 - 22.00
This excursion will take you to North-East part of Bohemia called "Czech Paradise". You will visit the local museum with a unique collection of Bohemian garnets in Turnov. The tour continues through beautiful countryside to the well preserved medieval castle Kost from the 14th century where you will have a guided tour. Departure for dinner to the Chateau Restaurant Sychrov. Dinner will be followed by a late evening inspection of the Chateau with the biggest collection of French portrait art in Middle Europe.

WEST BOHEMIAN SPAS - Karlovy Vary + Marianske Lazne, August 30, 8.00 - 19.00
This excursion will take you through hop-growing country to West Bohemia - a region rich in mineral springs. You will visit the famous spa town of Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) with its 600 year long tradition, 12 thermal springs, and the famous Becher liquor. You will visit also the beautiful Spa of Marianske Lazne with its numerous medicinal springs and unique historical architecture, as well as the Singing Fountain. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

TRIP TO KONOPISTE CHATEAU, August 31, 9.00 - 14.00
This excursion will take you to one of the most beautiful chateaux in Bohemia, once the home of the successor to the Austrian throne, Ferdinand d'Este, whose assassination in Sarajevo in 1914 was the signal for the beginning of World War I. The palace offers a fine display of furniture, rare tapestries, weapons, paintings and sculptures as well as a huge collection of hunting trophies. Lunch will be served at the old style Stara myslivna Restaurant.
